The Author
Track star, college graduate, and business-man-on-the-rise, Larry Barnhill once led a
promising career in event promotion, rubbing shoulders with famous athletes and celebrities. A
former track star and graduate of the University of Florida, Larry Barnhill was a director of
facilities for a major management company that marketed and managed arenas and stadiums in
multiple cities throughout the country. His career included a successful stint as assistant
executive director of the Orange Bowl Committee. In the late 1990s, notwithstanding his
success, he became involved with three other men in a series of bank robberies in and around the
Atlanta area. All the gang members lived otherwise respectable, even exemplary, lives. Finally,
in 2000, during what was meant to be their final heist, they were apprehended after a long and
violent car chase. They were convicted. Larry was sentenced to twenty-six years in federal prison.
Today, Larry Barnhill works to advance the criminal justice reform ecosystem as a
speaker, advocate, and mentor, and helps formerly incarcerated individuals find second chances
through meaningful career paths. His memoir, CONTROL. MOVE. DOMINATE. The True Story
of the Morning Glory Boys, shares his cautionary tale of redemption and resilience.
